Jessica Loewer

Hey. I’m Jessica Loewer.
I have been a Sky High Angel for about three years now. My sister, Sarah Loewer, joined the team before I did, so
I just tagged along with her until they let me ride!
I would have to say my favorite thing about being an Angel is the practices. As long and gruesome as they can be
sometimes, the girls on the team are what make it fun. Everybody always has a good attitude and it ends up
being a good time, every time. I look forward to our practices every week. :]
Another thing I like about being an Angel is the challenge it presents for my horsemanship. There has to be really
good communication between horse and rider in order to get through the drill alive! With horses running
everywhere and only so many spots left empty, you have to make sure you’re where you’re supposed to be on
time. Easier said than done. You find that out pretty quick! With one hand holding the flag you only have one
hand left for the reins. Every practice presents quite a challenge to any rider.
I would have to say my favorite memory of being on the team so far would be my first trip to the Wild West Show in
Dewey, Oklahoma. I was the youngest on the team that year. I was kind of afraid of being left out of the fun since I
was the baby.  That wasn’t the case at all! They made me feel as much a part of the team as the next girl, and I
had a blast.
The horse that I ride the majority of the time for Drill Team, is in the picture with me. She’s a black and white paint
named Tara Lynx Angel. We used to not get along so great, but we’ve both come a long way together. She also
does playdays with me at my local riding club. She’s won me quite a bit these past years. She’s got to be one of
my best friends.
